Happy New Year from JSC 🎉 Welcome to 2026!

As we wrap up the 1st full Monday in 2026, let this serve as a reminder that January isn’t about having everything figured out—it’s about setting direction, building momentum, and choosing what you’ll prioritize consistently. Whether you’re navigating a job search, hiring for growth, investing in people, or rebuilding after a tough year, this is your reset point.

At JSC, we’re stepping into 2026 focused on clarity, connection, and execution. This year is about practical strategy, real conversations, and measurable progress, one week at a time.

This week’s newsletter is short by design. Just like Mindset Monday, we will talk about habits and then the Standing Firm challegne kicking off today in our Discord community.

Standing Firm: Why Habits Beat Resolutions

As we officially step back into work, job searches, pivots, and planning, one theme came through clearly in this week’s Mindset Monday: January isn’t about motivation—it’s about foundation.

Every year, resolutions start strong and fade fast. Not because people don’t care but because resolutions rely on motivation. And motivation is unreliable. Energy fluctuates. Life interrupts. Stress drains us. When motivation drops, behavior stops.

That’s why this year, we’re shifting the focus.

Instead of asking “What’s my New Year’s resolution?”
We’re asking: “What habits can I stand on, especially when motivation is gone?”

The 28-Day Standing Firm Challenge

The 28-Day Standing Firm Challenge is about creating stability before chasing outcomes. Over the next 4 weeks, you’ll focus on one small but meaningful shift. By removing what drains your energy and replacing it with a habit you can sustain even on hard days. This challenge is designed to help you build rhythm, reduce decision fatigue, and show up consistently without relying on motivation. The goal isn’t to do more—it’s to do what matters, repeatedly, so you enter February grounded, confident, and moving forward with intention.

The focus:

  • Reflection → Discovery → Execution

  • Identifying what to remove (distractions, energy drains)

  • Replacing it with one intentional, repeatable habit

This isn’t about perfection. It’s about repeatable weeks, not perfect ones.

Within the JSC Discord community you’ll see:

  • A simple worksheet to define your habit swap - DM myself or Stephen to get yours today! 

  • Daily prompts shared in the Discord community

  • Weekly check-ins to reinforce consistency - Mindset Mondays and Friday Office hours! 

All of these elements are designed to help shape the habits and behaviors that are needed to see the impact of our actions. 

By the time February arrives, the goal is simple:

âś” foundation

Regardless of whether you’ve landed a role yet, or are still building toward one, this is a challenge for building processes and habits to shape the foundational mindset for continual growth.
