Last full week of June. The summer solstice landed two days ago, Q2 closes in eight days, and this is the kind of moment that tends to sneak up on people. Not because it arrives fast, but because it is easy to keep moving without ever pausing to look at what the quarter actually held.
Today's note has a Mindset Monday on why the pain of staying the same is often harder than the pain of change, especially heading into the summer slowdown.

Mindset Monday: Don't Let the Slow Drip Win
Most people overestimate the pain of change and underestimate the pain of staying the same. That tension sits at the heart of every job search plateau.
The throughline: the discomfort of changing your approach comes in a burst. The pain of staying the same can drip for months.
A few highlights worth carrying:
- Changing your resume, following up, reaching out cold, asking for help: all of it is uncomfortable. But inaction has a cost too. It is just quieter, slower, and harder to see until it has already done its damage.
- We are heading into summer slowdown. Recruiters are traveling, timelines are stretching, responses are lagging. That is not silence. That is the season. Do not confuse the two.
- Do not assume silence means rejection. Do not assume a delayed response means disinterest. People are moving in and out of work rhythms right now. Follow up with grace and give it room to land.
- Your job this week is simple: stay consistent with your process, keep your energy steady, and take the next right action. That is the whole plan.
- Do not try to fix everything. Pick one thing (your follow-up rhythm, your networking activity, your daily routine, your attitude toward silence) and move on it. Track it. Build from it.
Some questions to reflect on in this same vantage point:
- Reflection: where am I staying the same because change feels uncomfortable?
- Discovery: What is that costing me over time?
- Execution: What is the one action I can take this week to change the pattern?
The pain of change comes in a burst. The pain of staying the same can drip for months if you let it. Let's not let it.
