March is already moving quickly, somehow we’re already halfway through the month. For many job seekers and builders alike, this is the point where the early-year energy starts turning into real momentum. The ideas you set in motion in January and February begin to take shape through conversations, applications, interviews, and decisions about what comes next.

This week in the community we focused on perspective and progress. During Mindset Monday, the conversation centered on a shift of perspective.

We leaned into the Buddhist and Taoist teachings, the idea is used to explain interconnectedness; the philosophy that small actions influence the broader system around them. One small action can create ripples that extend far beyond the moment but we took it a step further speaking on the changes we can make to our environments as a result of these ripples.

We also continued the Hiring for Impact workshop series with Week 2 of our founder cohort. The session focused on translating business needs into clear, outcome-driven job descriptions, an essential step in building teams intentionally and strategically rather than reactively.

As always, the throughline is the same: clarity creates momentum. Whether you’re searching for the right role or building the right team, the more intentional you become about the outcome, the easier it is to take the next step forward.

Let's dive in!

Mindset Monday: You’re Not the Ripple, You’re the Stone

This week’s Mindset Monday centered on a powerful shift in perspective: instead of measuring your value by the visible “ripples” of quick results, remember that real impact comes from who you are at the core and how you shape the environment around you.

In the Mindset Monday talk, we expanded the traditional ripple metaphor. Instead of focusing on the visible ripples (short-term effects), we leaned in on and emphasized how the stone itself changes the ecosystem at the bottom of the pond, which aligns more with systems thinking and ecological metaphors about lasting influence rather than temporary impact.

In a difficult job market, it is easy to let rejection, silence, and uncertainty distort your self-perception but your strengths, experience, and leadership have not disappeared. The challenge is to stay grounded long enough to see yourself clearly again and recognize the changes you've made around you from the ripples of the process.

Key takeaways:

  • Your value is deeper than the outcome.
Rejections and stalled processes do not erase your experience, strengths, or the impact you’re capable of making in the right environment.

  • Perspective helps you turn frustration into momentum.
Not every missed opportunity is a loss; sometimes it is confirmation that the role, team, or process was not the right fit.

  • Momentum is built on hard days, not just motivated ones.
Small actions, reflection, and consistency matter most when the process feels heavy—because that is what keeps progress moving forward.

The message was a simple but powerful reminder: you are not defined by the temporary ripples of the job search, your long-term impact comes from the strengths and perspective you bring into every new environment.

Hiring for Impact Week 2: JDs and Sourcing Diverse Talent

Last week we tackled Week 2 of the Hiring for Impact workshop series in partnership with Miami Tech Works and Miami Dade College, bringing together founders and operators focused on growing their ventures and building strong teams.

The session focused on one of the most important steps in building a strong team: translating business needs into a clear, compelling job description.

After spending Week 1 defining the business objective behind each hire, founders and operators returned ready to turn that clarity into a public-facing role that attracts the right talent.

The conversation centered on how a well-written job description does more than list tasks, it communicates the impact the role will have on the business, sets expectations for performance, serves as a compliance and marketing tool and signals to candidates what success looks like inside the organization.

We were also fortunate to welcome Nurdes Gomez, Director of People Operations from eMed, to share a guest perspective and real-world insights on scaling teams and the importance of alignment between business outcomes, role responsibilities, and candidate expectations.

Key themes from the session:

  • Clarity drives better hiring decisions.
When leaders define the outcomes they need (not just the tasks) they attract candidates aligned with the mission and stage of the company.

  • Job descriptions are more than just a document.
A strong JD communicates purpose, expectations, and growth potential, helping the right candidates self-select into the opportunity. It is also a strategic marketing tool and a compliance piece for businesses of all sizes.

  • Founders must articulate impact.
The most compelling roles clearly explain how the hire will contribute to revenue, operations, product, or customer success.

With Week 2 complete, participants are now refining their job descriptions and preparing to move into the next phase: evaluating candidates and designing effective interview processes.

Step by step, the cohort is moving from ideas about hiring to building intentional systems that support real business growth.

Next up in Week 3, participants will take the information from their requisition framework and job descriptions and learn how to internally and externally evaluate candidate fit for their positions.

We will be welcoming a special guest to speak on some of the strategic HR considerations and expect a lively discussion.

This is exactly the kind of work that strengthens the ecosystem, connecting employers with talent and creating more intentional hiring across our communities.

That's a wrap!

As we move into the second half of March, the reminder is simple: progress is rarely dramatic, but it is always happening. Keep taking the small steps, keep refining your perspective, and keep building momentum.

Whether you are navigating a job search or building the next stage of your team, the work you are doing today is shaping the environment around you in ways you may not see yet.

We’re glad you’re here and we’re excited to keep building together.

See you next Monday with more insights, updates and perspectives!

Tena & Stephen
