Welcome to this week’s JSC Newsletter!
If you’ve ever watched Finding Nemo, you’ll remember Dory’s famous advice: “Just keep swimming.” It’s simple, but powerful—especially in the job search.

So when the waves feel strong and the current is pulling you off course, perseverance and optimism are what carry you forward. You don’t have to fight harder—you just have to swim smarter.
✨ Fun Fact: Research shows that job seekers who maintain an optimistic outlook are 57% more likely to land a role within 6 months (University of Pennsylvania, Positive Psychology Center). Optimism fuels resilience, and resilience fuels results.
This week we are focusing on how to build structure to generate momentum, and what JSC does to incorporate mindset into our structure to support in these important steps.

Mindset in Motion: Swim Smarter, Not Harder
Job searching can feel a lot like swimming at the beach—you’re moving along just fine, and suddenly you’re caught in a rip current. The instinct is to fight head-on, but that only leads to burnout. The smart move? Swim sideways.
That’s exactly what this market requires. The average search takes 6–9 months, yet we’ve seen members like Danny (6–8 weeks) and Vincent (2 months) land roles faster. The difference wasn’t more brute force—it was smarter networking and strategic direction.

Networking That Converts
The JSC Networking Workshop helps members turn conversations into career momentum—aligning perfectly with this week’s theme of swimming smarter by building purposeful connections instead of burning out fighting the current. Networking isn’t “just catching up.” Every coffee chat is a strategy session—an opportunity to gain clarity, information, introductions, or alignment.

Community Wellness Challenge: Week 2 recap
The first week of the JSC 30-Day Wellness Challenge kicked off with incredible energy, humor, and community support. This week we saw another 3 members join the Challenge, making us a 'bakers dozen' on Week 2!
Week 2 of our Wellness Challenge was all about consistency, hydration, and reflection. Members leaned into early morning routines, workouts, and daily reading to sharpen both body and mind.
💧 The big debate? Whether coffee counts toward hydration (spoiler: Linda says no, Tiffany says “only if it’s decaf,” and Patrick says “on Mondays, Fridays…and sometimes Thursdays”).
📚 Stephen shared that reading first thing clears his mind, reminding us that “structure without strategy is just busy work.” That theme carried through the week as members reflected not just on what they missed, but on the wins that stacked up day after day.
The biggest takeaway: success is built from micro-goals. Hydrate, move, read, reflect—small wins compound into momentum. We saw members tackle big and small goals and achieved victories despite the hurdles and we couldn't be more grateful to recognize and celebrate each one!
