JSC Newsletter: Sept. 8, 2025
Welcome to this week’s JSC Newsletter!
This week, as we endeavor into the first full week of September, we are continuing to focus on "execution".
In every season of growth, there's pressure to adapt—new tools, new tactics, new expectations. But this week, we're inviting you to pause and reflect on what shouldn’t change: your core values or non-negotiables.
Non-negotiables aren’t preferences—they’re anchors. They help you stay true to your values when the job search feels uncertain. These could include integrity, work-life balance, growth, faith, or financial clarity. And when it comes to interviews, that grounding is what builds real confidence. When your values match the role you’re pursuing, you show up with clarity and conviction that recruiters can feel.
Interview readiness isn’t about rehearsed answers or trying to impress. It’s about knowing your value, understanding your audience, and communicating with intention.
“You never get a second chance to make a first impression.” — Unknown
That’s why we’re spotlighting our Interview Workshop Series—a set of sessions that help you prepare not just for what questions might come up, but who you’re speaking to and why the conversation matters.
This week, the work is internal and external: get clear on your values, and then prepare to express them with clarity and purpose across every stage of the interview cycle.
Mindset in Motion: Non-Negotiables and Interview Readiness
This week, we’re encouraging you to reflect on your non-negotiables, the values that ground you no matter what, knowing your core helps you show up with clarity and confidence in interviews and applications. Being mindful to avoid confusing core values with job criteria. Learn to separate what’s deeply personal (your non-negotiables) from what's flexible (commute, industry, title) as you consider roles
“Success is never about the big things. It’s about being clear on your values and consistent in your actions.” — Unknown
Interview readiness isn’t about having perfect answers. It’s about being rooted in who you are. When your materials and your voice reflect your values, it’s felt—and it sets you apart. It's about your story and how you tell it.
Take a moment to reflect with this exercise:
-
Define your non-negotiables
-
Align your interview prep with them
-
Make sure your resume, cover letter, or video story reflect your authentic voice
Confidence comes from alignment however, Confidence isn’t constant—it’s built. Even 1% action on a hard day matters.
Momentum leads to confidence, and reflection leads to direction. Let’s get grounded and grow from there.
Challenge for the Week:
Take 30 minutes of quiet time to define your non-negotiables (exercise above). Write them down. Reflect and then revisit your job search strategy — are your interviews, outreach, and applications aligned with those values?

Workshop Spotlight: The Interview Cycle Series
Our interview workshops are designed to help job seekers show up prepared, confident, and aligned—because great interviews aren’t just about having the right answers, they’re about understanding the people sitting across from you.
Each workshop breaks down the structure, intent, and flow of specific interview types—starting with the initial recruiter screen, moving through panel interviews, salaries and negotiations and weare continuing to evolve as we add new formats and insights.
We cover:
-
What each audience is looking for (recruiter, hiring manager, team panel)
-
How to tailor your responses based on their goals
-
Common formats and expectations
-
How to prepare stories that resonate and build connection
-
How to navigate tricky or high-pressure moments with clarity
When you understand the why behind each stage, you can show up with confidence, tell your story authentically, and position yourself as the right fit. These aren’t one-size-fits-all tips—they’re strategy sessions grounded in experience and empathy for the job seeker journey.
